Fences and perimeter security can be cumbersome…but it can also ruin the aesthetics of your building. Not to mention, most fences are climbable and aren’t much of a deterrent from criminals. There are a ton of disadvantages of visible fencing, among those being cost and appearance. So, what’s the solution? Here at SOS Tech Solutions, we’re dedicated to giving you the facts. Read on for information on infrared fence security systems.
What is Infrared?
Our eyes can only see a certain kind of light. What you see in front of you is actually reflected light–those are the colors, or wavelengths, that we as humans are able to see. But there are more light waves that exist which we can’t see. For instance, the light that gives you sunburn–UV rays–are not visible. The same is true about infrared light. In this case, it is projected from a source to a detector. It’s completely invisible to the human eye, but if that line of light waves is broken, an intruder is detected.
What are the Advantages?
Visible, physical fences are useful, but they don’t have the same appeal, and there are a few reasons for this. For one, their installation cost is expensive. It takes quite a lot of material to put up a fence. Secondly, they aren’t nearly as secure, as they can be climbed and avoided very easily. Electrical fences are also very costly, as they must run constantly off large amounts of electricity. Infrared beams are long-range and high quality, and infrared fences are not nearly as expensive as other types of fences.
Why Should Your Business Invest?
It’s a great, cost-effective method of keeping intruders out of your facility. But, also, it allows for better security if they do break in. Alarms will sound, but the intruder won’t realize that they tripped it until it’s too late. Then, your security system will work it’s magic to catch the perpetrator.
